Have you ever bought something sooner, rather than later, to avoid a potential price increase?
Via Bloomberg: Zimbabwe.... has the world's highest inflation rate of at
least 355,000 percent... (and might be) as high as 9 million percent.
At the high end of that range, that's like a $1 pack of gum in the USA costing $90,000 in a year.
Update: July 19, 2008 -- Zimbabwe has just issued a new banknote - for $100 billion. That is a single piece of currency (like a US $10 bill) but for $100,000,000,000 Zimbabwe Dollars. But, this new bill isn't enough money to buy a loaf of bread.
I had thought it was confusing while traveling in Italy (many years ago) when a can of Coke was 2,000 Lira. Confusing in part because I had only bothered to learn to say the numbers (in Italian) from 1 to 10 plus, 20, 30... etc.
